Sport England is the strategic lead agency for sport. It aims to increase the number of people who participate by encouraging people of all ages to start, stay and succeed in sport at every level and make England the most active and sporting nation.

How to apply
It is a two stage application process which is accessed online at: www.sportengland.org/index/get_funding.htm or by calling the funding line on 08458508508.

Applicants need to explain how their project contributes to one or more of the following key areas:

• how, for every £1 invested, many more people will play sport, coach sport or volunteer in sport
• How it is about people rather than places
• How it helps to create a strong sports delivery system that can get people active
• How it creates a multi-sport hub to give greater opportunities for participation
• How it will get more women and girls, people with a disability, people from black and minority ethnic communities, people over 45 and people from deprived communities into sport.
• How the project will forge strong new partnerships
• How the project will meet local needs.
